About the Role

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is seeking a Vocational Education Teacher to join our Department of Youth Services (DYS) Education Initiative team in the Springfield, Chicopee, and Westfield region.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and student-centered educator to design and deliver hands-on, career-focused learning experiences that prepare young people for success in the workforce and beyond. The ideal candidate brings practical experience, curiosity, and a passion for connecting classroom learning with real-world skills.

As a Vocational Teacher, you'll empower students to explore career pathways in areas such as applied technology, trades, green energy, business, culinary arts, and other vocational disciplines - building the academic and technical foundation they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, project-based instruction that connects academic learning with practical, career-relevant skills.

  • Implement curriculum and assessment strategies aligned with CES and DYS educational goals.

  • Support multiple student pathways, including high school equivalency (HiSET/GED), diploma completion, post-secondary coursework, and career readiness.

  • Teach and model essential employability skills-communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and professionalism.

  • Incorporate industry-based standards, certifications, and real-world applications into instruction where appropriate.

  • Use technology tools such as Google Suite, blended learning platforms, and digital resources to enhance instruction.

  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment that fosters curiosity, growth, and respect.

  • Maintain accurate student records and administer assessments as required (e.g., MCAS, MAP, HiSET).

  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and community partners to expand vocational learning opportunities and work-based experiences.

  • Participate in professional development and CES/DYS training to continuously strengthen teaching practice.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Current Massachusetts Teacher License in a vocational or related content area (e.g., Horticulture, Applied Technology, Business, Math, or Science) grades 8-12.

    • Additional grade levels (5-8) allowable for up to two years while securing upper-level certification.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between sites.

Join us to teach in a place where your dedication, skills and experience can transform a student's life.

Salary range: $57,233 - $81,060
