YOUR IMPACT

You are an expert in operational and fiduciary matters, reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer ("COO") of Goldman Sachs Trust Company, N.A. (GSTC). You collaborate closely with the Chief Fiduciary Officer ("CFO") and senior members of the Trust Administration Team to oversee GSTC's fiduciary functions. Your responsibilities encompass the full spectrum of administration for Specialty Assets, including but not limited to Real Property, Mineral, Oil and Gas interests, Mortgage Assets, Promissory Notes, Closely Held Businesses, Tangibles, and more, all held within fiduciary accounts. You will evaluate fiduciary activities across GSTC and support the COO in developing, maintaining, and enhancing monitoring systems for these activities. You possess extensive operational expertise, a strong risk and control orientation, familiarity with trust accounting systems, and experience in the operational, administrative, and control functions of a Trust Bank.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL



  • You assist the COO and the GSTC Operations and Infrastructure Team, working in partnership with the Fiduciary Administration Team, to review fiduciary processes for thoroughness and sufficiency. You improve and establish controls to ensure processes are efficient and function as intended.
  • You maintain and continually strengthen monitoring systems for key fiduciary activities. This involves understanding the trust accounting system and identifying essential data to design, develop, and report on critical fiduciary activities to the COO, CFO, CEO, members of the Fiduciary Administration Oversight Team, Compliance and Legal officers, and Bank committees responsible for fiduciary oversight. You communicate the outcomes of your work clearly and comprehensively to relevant personnel and committees.
  • You demonstrate advanced knowledge of Trust Bank operations, including account opening and closing, account maintenance, asset setup and management, payment processing, disbursements, account coding, custody platforms, and reconciliation procedures.
  • You serve as a subject matter expert in trust accounting systems, custody operations, and general operational activities, and take primary responsibility for the operational aspects of implementing a new firm-wide trust accounting platform.
  • You oversee the administration and monitoring of GSTC's unique assets-including Real Property, Mineral, Oil and Gas interests, Mortgage Assets, Promissory Notes, Closely Held Businesses, Tangibles, etc.-in accordance with 12 C.F.R. 9 ("Reg 9"), collaborating with external vendors who conduct required asset valuations and reviews, as well as with GSTC Operations and Infrastructure Team members who manage vendor relationships.
  • You manage all external third-party vendors performing asset valuations and reviews under Reg 9, ensuring service excellence and regulatory compliance. You act as the primary GSTC contact for these vendors, coordinating closely with the Trust Administration Team.
  • You oversee and monitor insurance coverage for real property held by GSTC in a fiduciary capacity, working directly with senior stakeholders in the internal insurance group and GSTC's designated third-party broker.
  • You demonstrate a solid understanding of the laws, rules, and regulations governing Trust Bank fiduciary activities and are familiar with the unique responsibilities associated with specialty asset administration, such as Reg 9 and OCC Handbooks.
  • You interact with regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the State of Delaware.
  • You collaborate effectively with the CFO, Fiduciary Administration Team, Estate Administration Team, Legal, Compliance, Technology and Engineering, Internal Audit and other key stakeholders and partners within Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management.

Our Private Wealth Management business spans the globe, with the following locations in the United States: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Miami (Florida and Latin America coverage), Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, D.C. and West Palm Beach

The Trust Company has offices in New York and Wilmington, Delaware. This Specialty Assets Manager and Fiduciary Operations Officer position can be in our Cohoes, New York or Wilmington, Delaware office.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR



  • You hold a bachelor's degree.
  • You have at least 8 years of relevant operational and/or fiduciary experience, ideally within a Trust Bank at a large, complex financial institution serving high-net-worth clients.
  • You are knowledgeable about fiduciary activities, including personal trust administration, estate administration, investment management accounts, and custody accounts, and have experience with accounts where a Trust Bank acts as fiduciary.
  • You have experience with assets in fiduciary accounts, including manually priced and unique assets such as real estate, closely held businesses, and promissory notes.
  • You are process and detail oriented with a risk and control mindset.
  • You are an analytical thinker, problem solver and project manager, able to identify and issue and independently develop an approach to creating a long-term structural and process-oriented solution.
  • Understanding of core concepts of trust and estate planning
  • Basic understanding of the fiduciary investment process helpful
  • Strong team orientation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think clearly under pressure
  • Self-motivated and able to work in an autonomous, yet collaborative environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Salary Range

The expected base salary for this Albany, NY, United States-based position is $80,000 - $250,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
