Winston-Salem State University is seeking a Piano Accompanist to support their Music Department!

The Department of Music invites applications for a part-time Piano Accompanist. This position provides high-level collaborative accompaniment for applied music students at applied music lessons, rehearsals, and various departmental events. While the assigned student count and weekly workload may vary each semester due to enrollment and departmental needs, the established salary for the position is fixed and does not vary based on these fluctuations. The successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility and a commitment to the department's needs.

Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies
- Collaborate with applied music instructors to provide a minimum of thirty (30) minutes of high-level piano accompaniment per student during weekly applied music lessons.
- Schedule and conduct a minimum of thirty (30) minutes of individual rehearsal weekly with each assigned student outside of the applied lesson period.
- Provide expert piano accompaniment for students at scheduled departmental events, including performance seminars, master classes, and recitals.
- Provide piano accompaniment for students during all formal evaluations, including departmental entrance/placement auditions and end-of-semester music performance juries.
- Accompany assigned students at their degree recitals.
- Serve as accompanist for Voice Class, as necessary.
- Thoroughly prepare and master piano accompaniments to a professional performance level in advance, demonstrating fluency in diverse repertoire (e.g., classical, operatic, spirituals, and contemporary styles).

- Master's Degree in Music (or a closely related field such as Piano Performance or Collaborative Piano).
- Three (3) years of demonstrated collaborative piano experience at the collegiate level.
- Demonstrated high-level sight-reading proficiency.
- Expert communication and organizational skills necessary to coordinate schedules with multiple instructors and students.
