Engineer II - IT Systems

LOCATION: Huntsville, AL

JOB STATUS: Full-time

CLEARANCE: BI investigation

TRAVEL: Limited; as needed

Must be US citizen

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer II who will lean heavily into IT systems and processes created and maintained within the Propulsion Test Area. In this role you will interface with internal and external customers. You will work within an integrated group of developers, data analysts, and system administrators. In this group you will have ample peer support as well as opportunities to learn and grow.

Limited nights and/or weekends support may be required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer related discipline from an ABET accredited school with 5 years related experience.
  • IT Security - knowledge and general understanding
    • Management of NASA IT Security Plans
    • 5 years combined knowledge and experience with:
      • Windows Server
      • Linux Server
      • Virtual Systems
      • SAMBA shares
      • Risk Management Framework
      • Vulnerability Patching and Remediation
      • Managing group, file and folder permissions
      • Managing User Accounts
  • Familiar with:
    • OSI Model
    • Scripting
  • Additional duties as assigned

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • Windows Server (hardware, OS, and software)
  • Linux Server
  • Experience with programming languages C#, C++, and scripting
  • Experience interfacing with and briefing customers at various levels of the organization
    • Able to multi-task and effectively balance competing priorities while producing quality deliverables.
    • Experience with the implementation, oversight, and maintenance of the security configuration (GPOs), practices, and procedures for government systems
    • Experience with NASA Data Acquisition System (NDAS) is a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will primarily be in an office environment within the Propulsion Test Lab at Marshall Spaceflight Center. The candidate will also be assigned tasks that take place within other supported facilities. Adhering to all safety policies is absolutely essential in the test area. Candidate must adhere to assigned work hours.

Physical Requirements:

  • Candidate will need to be able to traverse uneven terrain, climb stairs, and work outside when the task requires it.

Other Essential Functions:

  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, once a probationary period is complete.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

This position may be eligible for work from home flexibility subject to customer requirements.
