Overview

Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Trade Compliance Intern, based out of Billerica, MA.

Rapiscan Systems, an OSI Systems, Inc. company, designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities.

Responsible for providing analytical support for the Trade Compliance program, ensuring the business stays compliant with international trade regulations, including import and export controls, customs laws, and sanctions.


Responsibilities

  • Support the Trade Compliance manager and team by assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Trade Compliance policies and procedures to ensure the company's compliance with import / export laws, regulations, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Review and disposition denied party screening holds using a third-party screening tool.
  • Maintain records of trade transactions including data entry, uploading, organization and closeout of documents in the system to adhere to regulatory recordkeeping requirements.
  • Review and evaluate visitor requests, international transactions, Sales Orders, End User Statements (EUS), export documentation, and open jobs reports for accuracy.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to U.S. Government export authorizations.
  • Support various projects, such as visitor management system, automated denied party screening, SharePoint implementation, ERP system implementation, and others as needed.
  • Evaluate product information to determine jurisdiction, commodity classification and tariff classification of products based on U.S. and foreign country export and import regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal customers such as supply chain, finance and legal as well as external entities such as suppliers, and global sites when needed.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide guidance on trade compliance matters.

  • It is the responsibility of all personnel to report to their manager any issues for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid the recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties and projects may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelors or Masters program in a related field
  • Experience in manufacturing environment with aa preferred focus on Trade Compliance
  • Some knowledge of U.S. trade regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, Customs) preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Dynamics 365 (D365) and SharePoint preferred.
  • Experience with OCR EASE preferred.
  • Possess strong analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
