The Senior Process Engineer is focused on the development, support, improvement, and deployment of Braze and Heat Treat processes. In this role, the Engineer will develop new fixtures, tools, and programs used to Braze or Heat Treat turbine components. They will support training, troubleshooting, and improving existing processes. Working with the Chromalloy Engineering team, the Engineer will support development of new parts and repairs, production and rate readiness, and implementation of new technologies and methods.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop fixturing, tooling, and procedures for Vacuum Brazing and Heat Treating of turbine components.
  • Support Operations and Quality to ensure production needs are met with perfect part quality.
  • Apply CI tools and concepts on product/process subsystems or manufacturing systems


    • Optimize the production process, product design using a robust lean problem-solving methodology, with quantifiable impact to business metrics
    • Develop KPIs to effectively manage process and product outcomes


  • Utilize project management skills to lead assigned projects/programs to successful completion considering technical, budgetary, manpower and schedule requirements
  • Collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment to develop component designs and repairs
  • Engage engineering teammates to collaborate on projects and development of robust solutions impacting site operational and financial performance, utilizing CI tools
  • Make technical decisions on product/process design and provide definition to the team to ensure mutual success.
  • Own all technical aspects of assigned components and or processes from initial concept through all manufacturing stages.
  • Identify, develop, and implement tooling/equipment improvements. Troubleshoot process/production problems and implement actions/solutions, monitor sustainability of actions, and report out results.



Qualifications:



  • BS Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or Metallurgical)
  • 5+ years of experience in the Aerospace or Industrial gas turbine engine mechanical design discipline


  • 3D CAD modeling (Siemens NX software preferred)
  • Knowledge of various measuring techniques including CMM, white-light/laser scanning, & gages, and their use in developing designs
  • Knowledge of fixturing and tooling design
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications
  • Thoughtful and effective communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & working knowledge of program management tools and skill set

Preferred Skills:



  • Knowledge of gas turbine component manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of all aspects of airfoil manufacturing (casting, machining, ...etc.) and inspections
  • Knowledge of FAA guidelines for PMA and RS-DER requirements and compliance testing
