Job Summary

The Information Technology Services (ITS) Business Enablement department at MCCCD is looking for a dynamic Systems and Application Administrator Principal to manage its cloud and on-prem infrastructure technology. This team provides 24/7 support for the applications supported by the Business Enablement team. Through vendor engagement activities, project management, team leadership, system administration, and communication and collaboration, this role ensures continuous access and enhancement of MCCCD's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems. This position also plays a lead role in infrastructure technology-related initiatives (e.g., migrations, upgrades, RFIs, RFPs, audits).

The ideal candidate will possess project management skills and experience managing cloud infrastructure systems (e.g., OCI, AWS, and Azure) and applications (e.g., PeopleSoft, Dynamic Forms, and QLess). This role supervises staff and mentors junior team members.

Essential Functions

System Administration (25%)

Liaises with ITS and various vendors to oversee maintenance, support, and troubleshooting for Business Enablement applications; uses and administers vendor ticketing system to create RFCs (Request for Change), SRs (Service Requests), and access changes for vendors to act upon; collaborates with vendor representatives and Maricopa technical and functional teams to implement requested changes; tracks OCI Cloud access and security requests; monitors certificate lifecycle, tracks unsupported versions, and notifies owners to take action; maximizes the availability of all ERP systems to support the business operations of the colleges.

Team Leadership (20%)

Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff; participates in hiring, discipline, and termination activities; identifies training needs and opportunities; promotes professional growth and development opportunities among team members; holds team members accountable for completing assigned tasks; mentors team members to achieve expertise in supporting applications.

Project Leadership (20%)

Leads complex, technical projects such as PeopleSoft, PeopleTools, PUM, and Audit projects; identifies appropriate project stakeholders and leads, coordinates, and facilitates meetings, and leads SIT, UAT, and disaster recovery testing.

Problem Management and Communication (15%)

Analyzes complex issues, incidents, and problems and develops solutions and recommendations; creates and requests RCAs (Root Cause Analysis); analyzes and identifies the linkages and interactions between different applications and infrastructures; facilitates incident response by coordinating conversations with the right mix of technical and functional team members; targets and escalates long-standing or unresolved issues; communicates incident status and facilitates the change management process; utilizes effective, appropriate, and professional communication with various stakeholders and team members.

Documentation and Coordination (10%)

Leads RFP and RFI activities, including creation, coordinating review and approval processes, facilitating addressing vendor questions, and maintaining documentation per retention guidelines; creates and maintains disaster recovery documents; develops SOPs, network diagrams, project and operational documentation.

Administrative Operations (10%)

Continuously grows cross-functional skillset; participates in regular meetings and task forces as applicable; performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field with seven (7) years of experience in enterprise application administration and/or infrastructure management.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Experience managing network and infrastructure in OCI, AWS, and/or Azure using vendor support tools.
  2. Possession of relevant certifications such as AWS, OCI Certifications.
  3. Experience resolving customer challenges (e.g., projects, production, customer support).
  4. Experience managing Oracle SaaS and PeopleSoft applications (e.g., monitoring, patching).
  5. Experience managing the incident response process.
  6. Experience administering PeopleSoft architecture (LBaaS, WAF, App Servers, Web Servers, Database Servers, Process Schedulers).
  7. Experience implementing security or cybersecurity best practices.


Special Working Conditions

There is a mandatory minimum in-office expectation, currently two days onsite, in which the District reserves the right to update at any time.

The selected candidate will need to reside in the Phoenix area or relocate within six months of hire.

This role may involve after hours work and non-regular business hours.

May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.

May be required to present in large meetings and sponsored events
