Description

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team! This position will perform a final inspection of completed work in order to ensure it was completed in accordance with established procedures. Reject and return to those units where a defect has been identified. Conduct root-cause analysis of defect trends and contribute to the problem-solving process. Provide recommendations on opportunities for improvement within assigned processes.

As part of this role you will:



  • Must be able to perform Day 1 BCR validation tasks.
  • Demonstrate subject expertise in 2 of the following process groups as it relates to the needs of the unit:

    • Deposit Operations

      • Validate new deposit account openings, ensuring all data is accurately entered and all steps are followed.
      • Perform reviews of all deposit maintenance reports, identifying defects and addressing them effectively.
      • Handle more complex tasks within deposits, such as exception clearing, tax levies, account maintenance workflow validation and OTE workflow validation.
      • Be able to serve as a point of contact in cross-departmental projects and new process implementations relating to deposit QC functions.


    • Loan Boarding and Maintenance

      • Show expertise in consumer loan boarding reviews, identifying defects, problem-solving any discrepancies or issues and validating corrections.
      • Review loan maintenance for consumer loans, ensuring procedures are followed, identifying defects and validating corrections in a timely manner.
      • Handle more complex loan maintenance tasks such as ATS report, DFI refunds, OTE validations, requests and reviews
      • Be able to serve as a point of contact in cross-departmental projects and new process implementations relating to loan operations QC functions.


    • Bank Control Records (BCR) Updates and OTE requests/reviews

      • Be able to understand the procedures for BCR updates, handling complex rate changes or other updates that impact multiple areas of the bank's operations.
      • Be able to perform Day 1 and Day 2 tasks, identifying and resolving discrepancies efficiently. Identifying trends and reporting major concerns appropriately.
      • Be able to serve as a point of contact for all things BCR with cross-departmental activities and projects relating to QC functions.


    • Administrative Tasks

      • Act as a subject matter expert in two process groups, providing guidance and training to employees in those areas.
      • Build the necessary reports daily for the identified process groups.
      • Document inspection results, report issues and trends to the Manager, and contribute to the root-cause analysis for process defects.
      • Actively participate in quality assurance and operations projects that impact the selected process groups.
      • Explore Lean Six Sigma tools to identify defects and implement process improvements.
      • Maintain acceptable productivity and accuracy as you apply and share the process knowledge.






To be successful in this role, we require the following:



  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Eighteen (18) months of quality assurance experience or related banking/financial services experience.


The following would be a plus:



  • Banking experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
