Position Overview

Seeking a Lab Technician to perform daily testing of corrugated materials, including Mullen, ECT, compression, and ISTA protocols. Responsibilities include sample prep, data analysis, report generation, equipment calibration, and supporting production trials. Must ensure compliance with safety and quality standards while maintaining accurate records and a clean lab environment.


Responsibilities

1. Daily process testing of combined board and finished goods



  1. Collect & prepare daily combined board samples for testing
  2. Perform Mullen, flat crush, pin adhesion and ECT on weekly samples
  3. Perform compression test evaluations
  4. Perform various tests on liner and medium when required
  5. Generate charts, graphs and reports as necessary


2. Assist and perform ISTA testing for Customers, including prework calculations and reporting, ensuring accuracy to all ISTA and Customer specific testing protocols.
3. Process Daily corrugator schedules for weekly samples, HazMat and special customer testing
4. Monitor and ensure compliance to daily HazMat packaging orders
5. Perform Competitor Spec analysis on samples supplied for quoting
6. Support trials, conduct testing as required and analyze results; create and distribute reports
7. Test samples and create Certificates of Analysis for customers
8. Conduct monthly CTS testing
9. Provide technical assistance and testing to other departments and divisions


Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Related technical schooling is preferred. In lieu of technical education, related experience in a manufacturing setting may be considered.
  • Requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for working with external customers and internal employees within the organization.
  • Adaptable to routine change daily or as needed depending on workload and strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment with clear feedback and communication but also able to work independently.
  • Must be analytically and detail driven.
  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Office 365.
  • Familiarity and experience with the following equipment is preferred: slide angle tester, score band tester, calipers and micrometers, small and large compression testers, and cutters.
