Job Description

Business Profile: Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. We hold quality accreditations for all the major airframe and engine manufacturers for both civil and military applications. Wyman-Gordon creates rotating closed-die forgings which are critical for aerospace and land-based gas turbines. Wyman-Gordon also manufactures structural forgings for airframe, nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space applications.

Location Profile: Located in Ontario, CA, Summit Machine specializes in the rough and finish machining of super alloys for the aerospace, commercial, defense, power, and petroleum industries. Complex components include nickel base, titanium, stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steels with parts ranging in size from 2" OD - 100" OD.

Position Summary: The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for managing production schedules regarding fulfilling orders, accountable for the achievement of area performance objectives, variable costs, product quality, ensuring employees are properly trained, coached, disciplined, and rewarded. Optimization of equipment availability, cycle times, and overall continuous improvement.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and plan for daily/ weekly/ quarterly labor, equipment, and supply requirements to achieve the departmental throughput while meeting and exceeding the productivity targets.
  • Ensure all production data is gathered and reported correctly on a daily basis
  • Manage, direct and coordinate all activities related to the area to maximize productivity and minimize cost while achieving safety, quality and throughput targets.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and process improvements, which may impact production
  • Ensure employees are trained on production procedures and company practices
  • Review variable costs, productivity, earned standard hours and throughput daily and implements effective corrective actions when targets are not achieved
  • Work with purchasing and suppliers to improve process reliability and lower costs
  • Provide manufacturing expertise when problems arise
  • Manage the activities of employees on continuous improvement projects
  • Support and improve upon quality initiatives designed to meet plant goals
  • Manage preventative maintenance performed by production employees
  • Ensure all equipment and machinery are set, maintained and adjusted to continually produce high products
  • Supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring & training employees; planning, assigning & directing work; evaluating and appraising individual performance; mentoring/coaching, rewarding & disciplinary actions, addressing complaints & resolving issues

Required Skills:

  • Must be capable of working effectively with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Previous Continuous Process Improvement experience (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.)
  • Must possess excellent problem solving, attention to detail & organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes while simultaneously managing several projects
  • High energy level, results driven and ability to work flexible hours

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required (Engineering highly preferred)
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience required
  • 3+ years manufacturing experience preferred

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $80000 to $100000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
