General Description: The Optical Lab Technician II is responsible for the production of eyeglass lenses. This role works on a production line in a team environment and in customer service to provide direct support and communication to customers regarding their orders. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Enter orders into lab software. Correctly read and interpret prescription specifications. Pull lenses and frames for orders. Operate lens surfacing lab, optical finishing lab, scratch coater, and other equipment. Maintain lab and equipment in a safe and organized manner. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly lab equipment maintenance as scheduled and in accordance with lab/equipment manual specifications. Answer phones and emails. Assist in the development and implementation of new approaches, methods, procedures, and enhancements to improve performance and achieve optimal customer service standards. Precept new employees and act as a mentor to others. Demonstrate the ability to resolve complex problems and troubleshoot issues associated with equipment as they arise.
General Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: Three years of experience required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Effective communication skills, including clear verbal interaction and accurate written documentation. Proficiency in operating lab equipment with accuracy and efficiency. Capacity to work independently under moderate supervision, managing tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure consistent and high-quality patient care. Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a supportive work culture. Basic computer literacy, including use of scheduling systems and electronic medical records (EMR).
