Position Overview


Position Summary
WSSU is seeking an experienced Painter to join the Facilities Maintenance team. Join the Ramily! If you are looking for a position where you can grow, this could be the job for you! There are plenty of opportunities for cross-training and promotion!
The Painter will report to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. This position performs painting work for all campus buildings: academic, administrative, and residential. Employees must work 'on call' during the appointed dates and times when requested. This also includes callback work if needed.
Responsibilities include:

  • Applying paint neatly and efficiently to interior and exterior surfaces, such as walls, windows, and doors of campus buildings as assigned
  • Utilizing premixed paints, paintbrushes, paint rollers, and paint sprayers to apply paint, finish, or sealant for painting maintenance requests
  • Sanding and priming furniture prior to applying paint, finish, or sealant
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment such as paintbrushes, paint rollers, paint sprayers, drop cloths, and ladders, and notifying supervisors when painting supplies are running low
  • Providing excellent customer service, communicating professionally and courteously with fellow employees, students, and visitors
  • Following up with customers once maintenance work is finished to ensure customer satisfaction and take corrective action as necessary
  • Coordinating with other structural maintenance teams to ensure that all work orders are satisfied in a timely manner
  • Maintaining records of repairs and maintenance performed
  • Monitoring painting requests in the work order system, TeamDynamix, and prioritizing work based on need and time allotted.
  • Adhering to safety procedures at all times and employing protective equipment when necessary to ensure a safe and healthy living, learning, and working environment

The primary function of Facilities Management is to ensure the safety and comfort of all faculty, staff and students. Facilities maintain the buildings to ensure the functionality, comfort, cleanliness and safety of our buildings.
