POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT Moss' Practice Lead, HRIS (Workday) serves as the strategic and technical leader responsible for advancing Moss's Workday HCM ecosystem. This role oversees a team of HRIS professionals focused on optimizing Workday to deliver efficiency, accuracy, and exceptional employee experiences across the organization. Acting as both a hands-on Workday configuration expert and a trusted business partner, the Practice Lead ensures that HR technology initiatives align with Moss's mission to build not only projects-but people's lives. This people leader will drive governance, continuous improvement, and system innovation to support HR, Payroll, Accounting and Finance operations through scalable, automated, and data-driven solutions. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, mentor, and develop 1-3 direct reports with a focus on accountability, growth, and excellence
- Serve as the Workday consultant partner, managing prioritization, technology roadmap, resource planning, governance, stakeholder expectations, product delivery and operational efficiency
- Establish governance frameworks, change management standards, and quality assurance processes to ensure consistent, compliant, and reliable delivery of Workday services
- Partner with stakeholders to align Workday functionality with Moss's strategic goals and business processes
- Lead Workday Payroll, Absences, Time Tracking, Benefits, Core and Advanced Compensation configuration solutions, including business process design, calculated fields, condition rules, EIBs, security setup and reporting
- Oversee functional system architecture to ensure scalability, regulatory compliance, security, and performance across modules
- Translate complex business needs into effective, well-documented technical solutions, from discovery through POC, UAT/QA, deployment and post-launch support
- Monitor Workday releases and proactively assesses new capabilities for adoption-particularly in areas of automation, AI-driven insights, and user experience improvements
- Manage data integrity through rigorous audits, controls, and governance practices
- Develop dashboards and analytics to enable data-driven HR and organizational decisions
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and regulatory standards while promoting transparency and ethical data use
- Serve as an escalation point for complex system issues, providing innovative and sustainable solutions
- Oversee functional and technical projects from initiation to deployment, including change management, post-launch support, enhancements, integrations, and cross-functional initiatives
- Coach and guide team members on technical design, documentation, and client service delivery
- Foster a collaborative, continuous-improvement culture centered on operational excellence and employee satisfaction
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline
- 7+ years of progressive HRIS experience, with at least 5 years hands-on PATT configuration and system administration. Additional, Workday HCM configuration (i.e., Core HCM, Payroll, Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Time Tracking, Security, Reporting, etc.) is a plus
- 3+ years in a leadership role managing and developing direct reports
- Experience with configuring multi-state payroll and payroll for 5000+ employees
- Strong understanding of HR and payroll processes, data governance, and digital transformation within large-scale organizations
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management and consultative skills
- Demonstrated success in balancing strategic planning with hands-on configuration and delivery management
- Track record of building credibility and trust through transparent communication and dependable delivery
- Workday certification in Payroll. Other desired but not required certifications include Core HCM, Compensation, Security, Reporting, etc.
- Experience in construction, engineering, or project-based industries
