Description

Mazak Corporation is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering department in our Production facility located in Florence, KY. A Mechanical Engineer in the Manufacturing Engineering department works in Mazak's North American Manufacturing plant to assist production efficiency by supporting product quality, workplace safety, and process improvements. Workload is split between the office and working hands-on in the manufacturing facility.

Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

* Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
* Works in the Manufacturing Engineering Database (MEDs), a cloud-based helpdesk software.
o Completes assigned requests and documents resolutions.
* Collects information and drafts documentation in support of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
o Communicates with production associates to collect details regarding design changes to current production products.
o Troubleshoots the root cause of issues, conducts Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and communicates findings to parties involved.
o Updates drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) in accordance with Mazak work standards.
o Drafts complete and detailed ECRs in accordance with Mazak work standards.
o Tracks Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and associated changes to completion.
* Supports continuous improvement projects throughout the entire production facility.
o Collects details in support of continuous improvement projects.
o Productively participates in team meetings to review task log updates (Plan, Do, Check, Act).
o Tests proposed fixes and provides evidence of successful implementation.
o Follows projects through to completion within the time provided by Supervisor.
* Provides hands-on support in a clean and air-conditioned manufacturing facility.
o Learns about Mazak products and processes by working with production associates.
o Dives into production bottlenecks to help areas recover while learning about the causes.
o Drafts and process production documentation (check sheets, work instructions, etc.)
o Participates in specific assembly tasks while training staff about updated documentation.

Education/Certification:
* Bachelor's degree in STEM field of study is preferred OR associate's degree in STEM field of study with two or more years of experience in a related field.
Skills:
* Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills are a must.
* Client-facing and internal communication skills are a must.
* SolidWorks user that can provide examples of original work is preferred.
* Can provide example experience working in teams, leading teams, coaching, etc.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Cloud-Based systems is preferred.
* Demonstrates a desire to work hands-on is preferred.
* Any form of design experience or work with design engineer is preferred.
* 5S/6S experience is a plus.
* Experience working with extruded aluminum design software is a plus.
