WSSU) is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented, and mission-driven
Admissions Data Specialist to join our dynamic Office of Admissions team.
In this hybrid role, you will be both the welcoming first point of contact for prospective students and a critical behind-the-scenes contributor to the university's data integrity, enrollment operations, and strategic goals. Your work will directly support WSSU's commitment to access, excellence, and student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Engagement:
- Serve as the welcoming face and primary contact for prospective students, parents, and high school counselors.
- Answer incoming calls, make outbound calls, and respond to emails and web inquiries, providing information and guidance to assist students through enrollment.
Recruitment & Outreach:
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with prospective students, applicants, and their families through ongoing communication and engagement strategies.
- Represent Winston Salem State University at college fairs, high school visits, and on-campus recruitment events, serving as an enthusiastic ambassador of the university.
- Help organize and execute recruitment initiatives that reflect the university's strategic enrollment priorities.
Application Support & Admissions Decisions:
- Provide guidance on the application process, ensuring prospective students understand admission requirements, key deadlines, and submission protocols.
- Review and evaluate applications in accordance with university policies and admissions criteria, to make admissions decisions.
- Ensure each application is processed efficiently and accurately to support timely enrollment outcomes.
Enrollment Support:
- Assist students from application to enrollment, helping students navigate the steps needed to join the Winston-Salem State University community.
- Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable resource, addressing questions and concerns promptly while guiding students through key steps such as application completion, admissions decisions, financial aid processes, orientation, and course registration.
Data Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interactions and recruitment activities in our CRM system.
- Track and report on enrollment metrics, helping identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, such as financial aid, academic advising, and student services, to provide a holistic support system for prospective students.
- Contribute to a collaborative and positive team environment, sharing insights and strategies for successful recruitment.
- Support the Office of Admissions during peak cycles and special initiatives by contributing across functions as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:
- Previous experience in admissions, student services, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills:
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM systems is a plus.
