Job Description

Metro State University, a member of the Minnesota State Collegesand Universities System, is seeking to hire an Assistant or Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering. This is a full-time,tenure-track position within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and will start on August 17, 2026.

Responsibilities:

F
aculty members are expected to:

• Demonstrate the ability to teach diverse range of undergraduate Industrial Engineering courses, and related courses in statistics,effectively to a post-traditional student population and contributeto meaningful assessment of student learning. (may want to listspecific courses if known)
• Develop curriculum in diverse areas within Industrial Engineering.
• Teach in Industrial Engineering BS program.
• Teach in-person and distance education courses as needed by thedepartment, college, or university.
• Contribute meaningfully to the assessment of student learningat program and institutional levels.
• Engage in scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/orresearch. If there are particular areas of scholarly work desired,it should be listed here.
• Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study.
• Contribute to student growth and development through advisingand assistance.
• Engage in service to the university and community.
• Demonstrate a commitment to serving a diverse student body bydelivering a student-centered education and using approaches thatsupport equitable outcomes for all students.
• Provide excellent learning environments through in-person,online, and/or hybrid course modalities.

Minimum Qualifications

• A masters degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field,such as Operations Research, Management Science, or Systems Engineering.
• Demonstrated potential for success in teaching and professionalservice activities.
• A plan for scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/orresearch in the specified discipline(s), or relateddisciplines.
• Effective Communication skills (written & verbal) tocommunicate with a variety of persons and groups.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an institutionwith a culturally, economically, and linguistically diverseworkforce and student population.
• Demonstrated ability and desire to work collegially withfaculty and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Preferred Qualification

• A completed terminal degree in Industrial Engineering or arelated field, such as Operations Research, Management Science, or Systems Engineering.
• 3+ years documented relevant work experience in industry or asan industry consultant.
• Experience pursuing or renewing ABET accreditation for anundergraduate engineering program.
• Demonstrated effectiveness teaching at a post-secondarylevel.
• Experience developing course curricula at a post-secondaryinstitution.
• Demonstrated contributions to assessment of student learning ata post-secondary institution.
• Professional development and/or expertise in culturallyresponsive pedagogy, anti-racist pedagogy, and/or universaldesign.
• Experience as an academic advisor for students atpost-secondary institution.

The
Department of Mathematics and Statistics currentlyoffers programs in Mathematics, Industrial & Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Teaching, and Data Science, and islaunching a program in Industrial Engineering starting in Fall Semester 2026. Students in our programs gain the analytic skillsneeded to study and solve a wide range of problems. They alsodevelop problem-solving and critical thinking skills that areuseful in a wide range of careers in science, technology,engineering, business, actuarial science, and education. In atypical academic year, the faculty member will teach five courses,split between two semesters. In addition, the faculty member willengage in scholarship, advising, and service.

The Department is housed in the
College of Sciences, whichalso contains programs in computer science/cybersecurity as well asthe natural sciences. Opportunities for interdisciplinary studieswithin the department and college are strong.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with education and experienceand is determined by the salary placement process as outlined inthe Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) Master Agreement.
