Position Summary

Work under moderate supervision to provide routine assistance in the performance of laboratory tests and/or research.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleans, breaks down, and stores laboratory equipment, facilities, and supplies after completion of laboratory exercises as required.
  • Transports laboratory materials and/or specimens to and from other laboratories, as required.
  • Prepares standard equipment, facilities, and/or solutions for laboratory experiments, in accordance with detailed procedures and instructions.
  • Collects, logs, and compiles research data in accordance to pre-established protocol and procedural parameters.
  • Sets up, operates, and maintains a variety of standard laboratory instrumentation as required for the individual research project.
  • Clerical duties to include inventory/ordering of laboratory supplies, filing, and library searches.
  • May assist with field research.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

    Preferred Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    • At least one semester of relevant course work
    • Knowledge of specified laboratory solutions, materials and/or media
    • Knowledge of cleaning procedures and specifications of specified laboratory equipment and/or facilities
    • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
    • Computer literacy, with proficiency in Excel, Word, and research using the Internet
    • To be successful in this role, you need to be safety conscious and detail-oriented
    • Sophomore or Junior in related major
    • Minimum GPA 2.5 preferred
