| Essential Job Functions |
Responsible for all electrical, battery & propane powered equipment, and maintenance on fire extinguishers.
Serve in support capacity for Building Services by maintaining complete facilities equipment. Position serves in support capacity for Building Services by maintaining complete facilities equipment.
If employee is assigned to work in a designated security sensitive area, employee is required to undergo an extensive background check under the administration of the
ASU Police Department and complete a 16 minute Security Awareness Training every two years. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
Duties include
- inspecting, maintaining, identifying and refurbishing equipment as necessary;
- following up on repairs in order to promote a preventive maintenance program;
- notifying supervisor regarding any abuse or misuse of equipment;
- assisting when needed with Recycling, supplies, and/or other tasks associated with the department's needs and/or functions.
This employee must be able to maintain a computerized inventory of equipment, spare parts, and discarded or surplus supplies; and must have the ability to become a certified technician on a wide variety of hand operated and power equipment both electric, and gas/propane powered. |
| Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position |
Must have the knowledge and skills to perform highly technical repairs on a varied inventory of equipment.
Provide technical assistance to other staff by troubleshooting standard facilities maintenance issues and determining their cause.
Mentor other technicians and staff members. |

| Work Schedule/Hours |
8 hour workday schedule with primary hours varying within the following timeframe:
5:30 am - 2:30 pm; Monday through Friday.
Position is subject to call back on weekends should emergencies occur or to perform other housekeeping related duties when requested by immediate supervisor.
This position will be required to work at ASU's home football games on weekends and other events when requested by the Environmental Services Manager.
Must have the schedule flexibility to come in for a later shift in order to facilitate training for a 2nd or possibly a 3rd shift crew. |

Knowledge-Technical: Performs a variety of recurring and non-recurring tasks/functions. These tasks/functions may involve related or varying processes to test, renovate, overhaul, replace, and perform preventive maintenance on standard building systems. Provides technical assistance to others by troubleshooting standard facilities maintenance issues and determining their cause. Mentors other technicians.
Problem Solving: Identifies facilities-related maintenance problems that require in-depth analysis, and identifies options for solving those problems. Solve unusual facility maintenance problems that require the application of journey level trades knowledge and determines the most effective and efficient course of action. Gathers and analyzes/interprets information to better understand the nature of the problem. May seek input from subordinates, peers, and/or managers in the decision-making process in order to solve the problem. Evaluates options and chooses appropriate action by considering potential outcomes. Makes sure that problem is appropriately addressed.
Coordination-Work: Determines project/assignment by breaking them down into tasks. Sets objectives and prioritizes activities and tasks, adjusts priorities when appropriate. Takes advantage of available resources (personnel, processes, departments, and tools) to complete work efficiently. Anticipates obstacles/roadblocks and prepares alternative plans to ensure timely task accomplishment. Uses time effectively and does not let distractions interfere with completion of the job/project. |
