Tesla's Datacenter Engineering team is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in building our Datacenters.Help create and optimize the builds of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life, produce cutting-edge detailed design of HVAC and other utility systems that are fully integrated with our processes.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong mix of mechanical and process engineering skills and a passion for working in a fast-growing renewable energy company.
What You'll Do
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to maintain alignment and program success
- OPR Intake, Process Inputs from IT Infrastructure Engineering team and help align deliverables to support construction readiness(Control scope, technical planning, and change management in a fast-paced, dynamic environment)
- Support Design reviews across all project phases (scope, kickoff, 30/60/90% design) and align with Construction Schedule to meet project timelines
- Support GSM in providing Technical Requirements for IT Infra hardwareto align with procurement and construction milestones
- Document Control (Permitting, construction documentation, transmittals, and RFIs to ensure compliance and coordination)
- Translate stakeholder requirements into clear, actionable design and engineering deliverables
- Work with ODM's supporting AI hardware integration into Tesla Infra
- SupportBIM integration, IT Infra commissioning
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of experience designing and/or construction of HVAC systems, Datacenter Air Side Systems
- Strong understanding of all engineering disciplines and proven ability to lead and allocate engineering resources effectively
- Experience in the design and development of manufacturing facilities andDatacenterinfrastructure.
- Advanced project and program management skills, with a track record of solving complex engineering challenges
- Knowledge in ductwork, HVAC, and Plumbing design,Working knowledge of Liquid Cooling Technologies
- Working knowledge in the use of following applications Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Trane and/or Carrier HAP
- Familiar with International Energy Conservation, Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Codes, NFPA standards, SMACNA duct construction standards, ACGIH Ventilation Practices, and ASHRAE
- Basic knowledge of Control Systems andDatacenter Electrical Distribution
- Proven experience managing subcontractors and third-party consulting firms across multiple concurrent projects
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical issues for diverse audiences
- Willingness to travelto offsite commissioning sites, vendor sitesand work extended hours as required; familiarity with construction management and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 preferred)
