Compensation

$26 per hour

Job Summary

The Safety Intern will gain hands-on experience in construction safety management while supporting Sully-Miller's commitment to maintaining safe work environments. This role offers exposure to jobsite safety practices, compliance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. Interns will collaborate with safety professionals and project teams to promote and enforce safety standards across operations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist safety managers with jobsite walk-throughs, inspections, and audits focused on hazard recognition and corrective actions.
  • Support implementation and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in project safety meetings and training sessions to reinforce company safety culture.
  • Help identify potential hazards and document findings for corrective action.
  • Aid in investigating accidents and incidents, gathering information, and supporting root cause analysis.
  • Assist with compliance reporting and follow-up actions from safety and health inspections.
  • Support monitoring of subcontractor and employee safety performance.
  • Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations as needed.
  • Assist in developing job hazard analyses for major phases of work.
  • Gain exposure to OSHA standards, risk assessment tools, and compliance strategies.
  • Participate in team-building events and intern networking sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in safety, Occupational Health, Construction Management, or a related field.
Skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Opportunity to learn about OSHA 10/30 requirements and other industry certifications
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and apply basic math skills.
  • Initiative and willingness to learn.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to utilize hands and fingers in order to type and carry reports should the need require.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands throughout the workday should the need arise.
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch should the need arise.
  • Ability to sit for a long period of time, possibly more than 90% of the workday.
  • Ability to see clearly or with assistance via necessary correction.
  • Adequate hearing (with or without hearing aid) and ability to distinguish colors.
