Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician supports plant production by performing troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on manufacturing and facility equipment, fixtures, and systems. This position ensures reliable operation through preventative maintenance, root cause analysis, and strict adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards. The technician plays a key role in minimizing downtime, supporting process improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and company procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motor and machine controls, electrical systems, and electronics.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment, process, and compliance issues, performing unscheduled maintenance as needed and responding promptly to trouble calls.
- Conduct daily preventative maintenance tasks to ensure operational readiness and production efficiency.
- Work safely at all times in compliance with Arc Flash, Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety, Ladder Safety, and other applicable programs.
- Follow work order systems and maintenance procedures, ensuring accurate documentation and proper pre-approvals and signoffs in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Record all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintain appropriate spare parts inventory for assigned areas.
- Adhere strictly to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and manufacturing SOPs, policies, and procedures to ensure the safe and consistent production of quality products.
- Perform modifications, upgrades, and installations of new equipment and machinery.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and plant performance.
- Complete other tasks as assigned to support operational excellence and production goals.
Job Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and related regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, email, and CMMS applications (Maximo experience preferred).
- Experience with programmable logic controller (PLC) systems such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, or Omron; SCADA/EMS experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of motor controls, VFDs/VSDs, servos, stepper motors, pneumatic systems, and high-speed packaging equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and part diagrams.
- Experience with sensors, limit switches, proximity sensors, temperature controllers, inkjet printers, and vision systems (Cognex or Keyence preferred).
- Skilled in maintaining and troubleshooting high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment such as conveyors, extrusion systems, and ultrasonic welders.
- Experience with facility systems, including compressed air, vacuum, HVAC, and RO water systems. Machining, welding, or tooling experience preferred.
- Electrical experience with AC/DC motors and drives, systems up to 480V 3-Phase, relays, solenoids, and low-voltage circuits.
- Ability to work in clean-room environments while wearing appropriate PPE and garments.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience with automated manufacturing machinery and equipment.

- Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Ability to reach, stand, and walk long distances.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.

- Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.

- Visual acuity required for accuracy, neatness, and thorough observation of facility conditions.

- Work location: Hayward, CA.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
- Subject to indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to temperature changes and varying noise levels.
- Potential exposure to moving machinery, electrical current, pressurized equipment, vehicles, heights, heat, and chemicals.
- Possible contact with fumes, dust, odors, mists, gases, or areas with limited ventilation.
