At The National Bank of Indianapolis, our clients trust us with their most important legacies. We're looking for a Vice President & Estate Officer who can bring expertise, empathy, and precision to the complex world of estate administration. As part of your responsibilities, you'll guide families, honor fiduciary responsibilities, and ensure that every detail of the estate process is handled with accuracy and care. You'll work with clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, and advisors to bring clarity to complexity. What You'll Do
- Administer probate and non-probate estates
- Collect, value, and distribute estate assets, including securities, businesses, and real estate
- Prepare inventories, accountings, and settlement documents
- Coordinate payments of taxes, insurance, and expenses in compliance with deadlines
- Research and resolve legal and tax issues in collaboration with advisors and counsel
- Prepare and review legal documents such as trust certifications, receipts, releases, and settlement agreements
- Work closely with portfolio managers, beneficiaries, and attorneys to effectively manage estate matters
- Supervise a Client Support Manager, providing coaching, direction, and leadership
- Assist with estate and fiduciary income tax filings
- Represent the Bank at client meetings, COI events, and community engagements
- Participate in committees, special projects, and cross-team initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor preferred
- 5+ years of estate administration experience, including interpreting wills and trusts, preparing inventories, handling tax issues, and navigating contested matters
- Strong ability to manage complex estates independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills with sensitivity to the needs of beneficiaries and family dynamics
- Proven leadership skills with experience supervising and developing others
- Exceptional communication-professional, responsive, and adaptable to audiences ranging from attorneys to beneficiaries
- High level of initiative, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and related tools
