CLA is growing and seeking to hire an experienced Technical Director - National Exempt Tax to join our talented firm. The position offers growth, opportunities for advancement, flexibility and a collaborative work environment.

In this position you should have the following: excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels; strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team of controversy professionals; problem solving and creative abilities, coupled with sound judgment; ability to manage multiple matters; strategic skills to build a practice; and high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

How you'll create opportunities in this Technical Director - National Exempt Tax role:

  • Serve tax exempt clients in the Healthcare, Higher Ed, and Nonprofit industries in a high impact manner, demonstrating command of a major area of specialization.
  • Demonstrate deep technical skills and have the above related industry knowledge.
  • Excel at engagement management and operational excellence.
  • Assist clients with meeting their tax and day to day compliance needs.
  • Research and draft technical tax memoranda on various tax issues for clients.
  • Review and sign a variety of exempt organization returns and serve as a subject matter expert when appropriate.
  • Develop and mentor staff and oversee client engagement teams.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience serving in a tax role with public accounting and/or professional services firm
  • Experience specializing in tax exempt organizations preferred
  • CPA required (JD or Enrolled Agent (EA) may be accepted in lieu of CPA certification)

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.

Posting Range:

  • Massachusetts: $112,700 - $222,000
