Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Strategic Sourcing to join their team in a leadership capacity. This role will oversee Category Management activities across Data, Technology, and Engineering (DTE), driving scalable sourcing strategies and supplier relationships that support long-term business objectives. The Associate Director will partner with stakeholders across functions and geographies, leveraging deep sourcing expertise to deliver sustainable value, manage risk, and ensure operational excellence. This position requires an individual with strong business acumen, advanced negotiation skills, and the ability to influence senior leadership. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and will play a critical role in shaping strategic sourcing practices and outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Build and maintain influential relationships with internal stakeholders, understanding objectives and challenges to deliver tailored sourcing solutions.
- Lead Category Management for global Technology categories, developing and executing category strategies and managing supplier performance.
- Conduct and integrate market research to inform sourcing strategies and provide actionable insights.
- Negotiate, author, and execute supplier contracts, ensuring value delivery and compliance with business needs.
- Oversee Supplier Performance & Relationship Management (SP/RM), including KPI development, performance monitoring, and executive-level reporting.
- Develop risk management strategies in partnership with stakeholders to ensure supply continuity and resilience.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing processes (RFx), including drafting RFPs, managing vendor sessions, negotiating terms, and executing agreements.
- Define annual cost savings/value targets in collaboration with Finance and Business Partners, ensuring successful achievement.
- Mentor and guide sourcing colleagues and junior team members.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging analytics, reporting tools, and process optimization methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MS, MBA, or similar) in a business or scientific discipline preferred.
- Extensive sourcing experience in Technology/IT categories, preferably within a highly regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of supply chain and category management processes; Six Sigma certification desirable.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech industry standards, including discovery and preclinical development phases, is highly valued.
- Proven ability to influence senior leadership and serve as a strategic thought partner.
- Proficiency in supplier risk management tools and ERP/e-sourcing platforms; advanced Excel, Power BI, and analytics/reporting tool expertise.
- Demonstrated project management experience, with the ability to handle multiple complex projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including comfort presenting to executive leadership.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving collaborative outcomes.
