Summary: Responsible for the day-to-day operations of a section of the Respiratory Care Department. Employees are responsible for staff supervision and training, budget projection and monitoring, and program development and improvement. Responsibilities: 1. Care and Practice: Develops and sustains an environment with assigned teams to support safety, excellence and innovation in clinical practice and patient care through assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and standards that support positive patient care and team outcomes. Works with leaders to ensure adequate staffing of appropriately trained and licensed personnel for clinical and administrative functions. Collaborates with the Director and colleagues in establishing and implementing policies and procedures. 2. HR: Provides direct supervision to caregivers and support staff. Interviews candidates for hiring, orients and coaches staff. Conducts performance reviews and implements the corrective action process when appropriate. Communicates and ensures staff are in compliance with all hospital and departmental requirements and initiatives. 3. Finance: Assists with developing, maintaining, reviewing departmental operating and capital budget. Makes appropriate modifications to align revenue and expenses for assigned areas of responsibility balancing financial and operational goals and regulatory requirement. 4. Quality/Performance Improvement: Identifies and acts on opportunities to improve department and organizational processes using Lean methodologies. Collaborates with Director to establish goals for the department that are congruent with hospital goals. 5. Customer Service - Assists Director in establishing systems, processes, people, and education that will improve internal and external customer satisfaction and positive results for the department and institution. Acts as a Role Model for staff and leads direct reports in supporting team, departmental, and institutional expectations in customer service excellence.

Other information: Education Requirements: * Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy, Hospital Administration, Business Administration or related field is required. Licensure/Certification Requirements: * Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board and registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care. * Must maintain BLS certification. Professional Experience Requirements: * Requires five (5) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and three (3) years of experience as a respiratory care manager, supervisor, or other leadership role. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: * Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise. Able to work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. Interpersonal communication skills necessary to work with hospital employees, physicians, patients, family members and community professionals. Ability to work flexible hours to meet Department needs.
