Position Summary
This position provides leadership for planning, development, and management of a result-oriented effort to significantly grow online degree programs for undergraduate and graduate students. The Senior Director leads cross functional teams across the university to develop high quality online programs. This position builds scalable processes and manages budget and personnel aligned with program growth.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the University's development, implementation, and assessment of online programs, including developing resources to guide how new online academic degree programs can be launched, made scalable, and financially sustainable.
  • Lead the launch of new online degree programs by leading large cross-functional teams through all program development and launch phases, including market assessment, program development, approvals, course development and marketing, admissions, recruitment, and retention planning.
  • Develop strong relationships with college partners, university cross-functional teams, and the Center for Teaching Excellence instructional design team.
  • Provide direction and build collaborative partnerships with Deans, Department Chairs, and faculty to identify and launch high demand online programs.
  • Develop and present business plans emphasizing return on investments for online programs.
  • Develop project plans and timelines and manage timelines for multiple projects to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Identify new ways for the Extended Campus teams to provide additional support for new program development and seamless integration of new programs, including the development of new non-degree educational opportunities.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning efforts of Extended Campus.
  • Develop competitive analyses to assess market demand and project enrollment. Analyze key competitors and identify valuable insights to guide program development.
  • Support the University's strategy for increasing enrollments focused on online degree completers and adult learners leveraging educational technology, student support, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Create course offering schedules for new online degrees.
  • Develop a team environment that motivates and inspires team members to work together to exceed enrollment goals and continuously improve initiatives and processes.
  • Provide team members with support and feedback to continue to grow and learn.
  • Collaborate with UIC Extended Campus leaders to successfully launch new programs.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated success in project management.
  • A minimum of five years of leadership experience in higher education
  • A minimum of three years managing a team with a strong record of accomplishments.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD degree preferred. MBA is a plus.
  • Strong experience developing new online curricula and leading large cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and project management skills required.
