The IT Automation & Solutions Engineer designs, develops, and implements custom IT and infrastructure applications, automates workflows across our Networking, Security, and Hybrid Cloud teams, and contributes to our AI strategy.

This individual will report directly to the VP of Information Security and Infrastructure and collaborate closely with cross-functional IT and business teams to drive efficiency, innovation, and digital transformation initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Automation & Development

  • Design, develop, and deploy custom IT and infrastructure applications to streamline operations and improve productivity.

  • Build automation workflows for Networking, Security, and Hybrid Cloud teams to reduce manual workloads and enhance operational consistency.

  • Develop scripts and tools in Python and PowerShell to support infrastructure, security, and operational requirements.

  • Automate common Service Desk tasks and improve onboarding/offboarding processes to enhance employee experience.

  • AI Strategy & Implementation

  • Partner with IT leadership to define and implement AI strategy initiatives.

  • Design, build, and deploy an AI-powered chatbot to support Service Desk operations.

  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to identify and prioritize future AI opportunities as part of a long-term roadmap.

  • Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with Networking, Security, Cloud, and Service Desk teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable solutions.

  • Provide clear documentation, knowledge transfer, and training for developed tools to ensure sustainability and adoption.

  • Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on emerging technologies in AI, automation, and infrastructure development, and bring forward innovative solutions to enhance IT service delivery.

  • Recommend and implement best practices for automation, development security, and operational reliability.

  • Other special projects and duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in IT automation, scripting, or infrastructure development roles.

  • Strong proficiency in Python and PowerShell scripting with practical implementation experience.

  • Experience developing custom IT or infrastructure tools, automation scripts, or API integrations.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure automation, including Logic Apps, Functions, or related services.

  • Understanding of Networking, Security, or Cloud operations (depth in at least one, broad familiarity across others).

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse technical teams.

Preferences

  • Experience developing and deploying AI or ML solutions, including chatbots or virtual agents.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).

  • Prior experience automating Service Desk processes or ITSM workflows.

  • Knowledge of security best practices for development and automation projects.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
