Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Systems and Training Specialist reports to the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs and is responsible for providing training and coaching for faculty and staff on various software applications including, but not limited to:
* Electronic teaching, research, and service portfolios
* Grants and scholarly activities
* Student advising
* Surveying and reporting tools
For the supported software products, this position provides basic systems support, assists with troubleshooting, and serves as a liaison to the software vendors. In addition, this individual creates and distributes reports to assist with research and scholarly activity, faculty annual reviews, the tenure and post-tenure process, and other topics as deemed necessary. The Systems and Training Specialist also serves on university level committees relating to software applications and reporting. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Fundamental knowledge and understanding of academic policies and procedures, including familiarity with the roles of other university divisions.
Ability to track and monitor pertinent activities (program changes, critical correspondence) in an organized fashion to keep the office running efficiently.
Ability to research, interpret, analyze, and recommend a variety of policies, procedures, and regulations in order to select the most appropriate course of action within specific procedural and operational guidelines, as well as write and implement policy and procedural guidelines where needed.
Ability to organize and adjust workload to handle multiple responsibilities.
Ability to coordinate support staff in a complex office which manages all operations in a large administrative unit.
Ability to identify and evaluate situations or problems to determine and implement appropriate courses of action.
Ability to exercise judgment, tact, and discretion in dealing with a wide variety of administrators, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
Ability to research, compile and present information and numerical data.
Proficiency in written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in the use of personal computer with multiple types of software programs, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and database systems; substantial knowledge of electronic calendaring programs e.g. Microsoft Outlook.
Ability to embrace, learn, and adapt to new software and technologies. |
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience |
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience in leading training and providing systems or software support in person and/or in virtual settings.
Experience:
* Developing group and individual training on a variety of software applications
* Creating multi-faceted reports used for compliance reporting and decision making
* Working with grant reporting
* Working with faculty-related process reporting |

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment.
