Position Summary

The Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) Manager leads and develops the organizations' sales and operation plan. In this role, the S&OP Manager continuously improves the tools, capabilities, and techniques within the organization pertaining to Sales and Operations Planning. This includes calculating optimal safety stocks to satisfy customer demand while managing inventory levels to corporate targets. The S&OP Manager will also support all facets of Supply Chain as related to Sales and Operations planning, product launches and inventory management.

Job Duties

Reconciles and balances sales demand forecasts to supply plans on a monthly basis to maintain adequate inventory of stocked items for a rolling 12-month horizon.

  • Maintains product supply plan for Make to Order and Make to Stock items.
  • Provides direction for the creation of the monthly supply plan process by the operations team and validates performance versus plan.
  • Recommends appropriate courses of action within supply or demand to optimize organizational performance in terms of financial and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Manages and inputs Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) forecast data..
  • Coordinates with Product Management for new product launches and operations ramp up planning as well as the sunsetting of products.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert on the S&OP process in the business and drives related improvements in the S&OP and the ERP system.
  • Develops capacity planning process to align and balance supply with demand to provide input for labor and equipment requirements for short and mid-term planning.
  • Prepares files and data for related sales and operations planning reviews.
  • Determines statistical based target inventory for components and finished goods, considering relevant input from business and segment leaders.
  • Develops advanced analytical tools and reporting to support the entire S&OP process.
  • Ensures the integrity of S&OP data and its related demand output such as forecast, distribution sales orders and direct to customer orders.
  • Completes continuous improvement projects to streamline supply chain processes.
  • Leverages industry best practices and demonstrates continuous improvement to enhance the S&OP process.
  • Supervises and develops the S&OP team.
  • Develops a highly capable team and processes to provide optimal end to end network optimization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or related field is required.

Experience Requirements

Eight years of supply chain planning experience in a 'Make to Stock' and 'Make to Order'environment with progressive career path and leadership is required. Previous supervisory experience in the Sales and Operations Planning function is highly preferred.

Skills and Competencies

Additional requirements of this position include:

  • Effective communication and math skills.
  • Basic understanding of Material Resource Planning (MRP) in ERP software preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis and extraction from ERP software.
  • Proficiency in Excel with demonstrated skill in Pivot tables, v-lookups, and basic formulas.

Licenses/Certifications

APICS or IBF certification a plus.

Working Conditions

Office setting within a manufacturing environment. Occasions may arise that the Demand Planner be exposed to loud machinery. Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds unassisted.
