Position Overview

OCHIN is seeking a hands-on Manager of Compliance to lead and coordinate a small, dedicated team responsible for executing and enhancing our organizational compliance program. This role ensures that compliance activities and functions are aligned with the needs of both the organization and its members/customers. The ideal candidate brings proven leadership experience and advanced knowledge of healthcare compliance, particularly within a multi-state environment.

This individual collaborates and works closely with senior leaders and teams across the organization and is well-organized, flexible, adaptable, and resourceful. Essential Duties

Team Management

  • Lead, motivate, develop and support team to achieve desired results.
  • Provide ongoing direct supervision and support to staff, including leading regular team meetings and 1:1 check-in meetings.
  • Communicate and manage the implementation of OCHIN's strategy.
  • Manage staff performance in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Provide regular coaching and mentorship to other team members to help them reach their highest potential.
  • Actively promote the diversity of OCHIN staff by identifying and developing emerging leaders from projects and programs.

Compliance

  • Oversees and assists with investigations related to compliance and privacy, internal audits and remediation, and data loss prevention reviews
  • Develops and maintain departmental procedures and processes
  • Continuously identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Monitors responsiveness to customer service tickets
  • Collaborates with leaders across the organization
  • Intervenes and resolves compliance escalations
  • Assists with coaching/educating leaders and staff on compliance and privacy policies
  • Reviews and provides input into contracts as it relates to compliance
  • Supports and assists with annual compliance training for staff (e.g., code of conduct)
  • Assists with addressing/triaging compliance-related customer service tickets
  • Reviews and assists with compliance trainings for customers
  • Assists with research on state/federal regulatory requirements for key programs that affect our members
  • Provides supports to strategic OCHIN projects focused on ensuring member compliance with statutory and regulatory changes
  • Presents to members updates on regulatory and compliance matters
  • Oversees the coordination of the Business Continuity Access program, ensuring member compliance Coordinates changes to notices of patient privacy language
  • Supports regulatory compliance, quality improvement/evaluation and public health surveillance

Projects

  • Ensures projects align with federal, state, and institutional regulations that govern data usage for research projects (conflict of interest, data use and transfer, record retention, research misconduct, data stewardship)
  • Oversees internal risk assessments/audits
  • Monitors standardized training requirements for research staff
  • other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctorate is highly desired.
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare compliance, risk management with multi-state expertise is required.
  • Experience in healthcare regulatory compliance is required.
  • 1 or more certifications in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), or Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and investigative abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply legal and regulatory requirements in a multi- state environment
  • Proven professional writing skills, the ability to create clear, concise content that resonates with a variety of audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service and collaboration skills.
  • We are requiring all candidates to submit a writing sample 1-2 pages in length (legal abstract, policy, memorandum or blog post that displays your healthcare compliance, legal or regulatory compliance knowledge.
  • Prior to moving forward to the team interview, all candidates are required to complete a 1-hour competency assessment. The assessment gives us insights into how your strengths, preferences, and work style align with this position and OCHIN's culture of learning, heart, belonging and impact. It's not about passing or failing-it's about understanding fit and setting you up for success.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

To keep our colleagues, members, and communities safe, OCHIN requires all employees-including remote employees, contractors, interns, and new hires-to be vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine, as supported by state and federal public health officials, as a condition of employment. All new hires are required to provide proof of full vaccination or receive approval for a medical or religious exemption before their hire date.

Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is a 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for this position.

Base Pay Overview

The typical offer range for this role is minimum to midpoint (min-$108,701 mid-$141,311), with the midpoint representing the average pay in a national market scope for this position. Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will consider a wide range of factors directly relevant to this position, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, responsibility, and experience, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
