WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

Internship opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student or trainee to gain work experience offered by an organization for a limited period of time. Assist in the assessment and development of ARC communication materials (news releases, social media content development, storytelling, highlighting special events in line with Red Cross lines of services). Conduct research related to communication materials. Assist with the creation and maintenance of communications plans, and strategies. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Work with media databases and Sprout Social Media Management.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.

This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

1: May support unit with research projects.

2: Typically analyze data, present facts, and recommend solutions.

3: May create, develop, or maintain databases for various lines of service events or projects.

4: Assist with the development of reports and other informational materials presented to management.

5: Conduct unit-specific responsibilities.

Scope: Learning aspects of the job. Assignments are received in task- oriented terms. Contacts primarily within immediate work unit.

Standard Schedule: 20 hours / week with flexible working schedule, during business hours

Pay Information: The salary range for this position is (CA): $17.25/hr. - $17.25/hr.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

Education: High School or equivalent required. Internship is typically part of an undergraduate program which requires some university credit hours.

Experience: Up to 1 year of related experience.

Management Experience: N/a

Skills & Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Knowledge of social media platforms. Video editing skills preferred. Ability to work on a team.

Travel: some travel within the Region.

* Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted)

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
