ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure all general ledger accounts are reconciled accurately and promptly, with outstanding items clearly identified, documented, and resolved to maintain financial integrity and mitigate risk.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Controller - Accounting Operations to analyze material outstanding items and communicate relevant findings during the monthly close process.

  • Assist with the identification, development and implementation of new accounting controls and process improvement needed to ensure complete, accurate and timely general ledger reconciliations.

  • Support the development and implementation of new accounting controls and processes to enhance reconciliation accuracy and efficiency.

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper training for staff responsible for account reconciliations.

  • Assist with other duties or responsibilities required to ensure all general ledger accounts are reconciled timely and accurately.

  • Work with relevant accounting personal on the implementation of strategic plans, projects, programs and systems impacting the Reconciliations function.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements, including completion, evidence of review and retention of documentation, for their assigned areas.

  • Mentor and develop the Reconciliations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

  • Assist with integration and conversion tasks resulting from mergers and acquisitions affecting reconciliations across the Bank.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Comply with the Bank's policies, procedures, code of conduct, and regulatory guidelines.

COMPETENCIES

  • Management/supervisory experience required - 3 years minimum

  • Experience and advanced knowledge of accounting systems with Blackline and Workday knowledge preferred

  • Ability to collaborate and professionally interact with Team Members at all levels within the Bank

  • Ability to identify and resolve accounting issues

  • Ability to engage in creative problem solving; ability to identify areas for improvement and communicate/execute on ideas/solutions

  • Ability to manage all responsibilities in a fast-paced, growing, continually changing, demanding environment; must be a results-oriented, detail-oriented individual

  • Strong work ethic, results driven, committed to meeting deadlines and achieving company and department goals

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors or associate's degree in accounting, business or relevant

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of operational accounting with a minimum of 3 years of experience of operational accounting in banking industry

  • Certifications/Specific Knowledge: Strong understanding of banking operations and products, intermediate knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Advanced knowledge of accounting systems and an understanding of integration components (Workday and Blackline preferred). Intermediate Excel knowledge required as well as other Microsoft Office products. Solid organizational skills with ability to prioritize.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES

Required annual compliance training, New Employee Orientation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a large amount of time in front of a computer. This can be done sitting or standing with use of the right desk. Must be able to constantly enter data through or on a computer or answer a phone throughout most of an eight (8) hour shift. Must be able to walk frequently throughout the day. Must be able to hear and communicate with coworkers and customers throughout the day

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position is located inside a cooled and heated facility with the ability to go to a break room or rest room during breaks. Telecommuting roles no matter if hybrid or 100% full time telecommuting must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered.

Travel may be required to attend meetings as needed.
