Job Description

2nd shift NDT Technician

Title: NDT Technician (Visual Inspector)

Status: Hourly

Shift: 2nd, 2p-10p

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to Area Manager, NDT

Location: Mentor, OH

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and may be substituted by experience.

Personal Characteristics: Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/ quantity. Able to work flexible hours with a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record. Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving. Have strong sense of urgency. Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in visual or grain inspection in IGT or Aircraft Investment Castings. Must be able to read and interpret customer specifications, and computer literate.

Principal Area of Responsibility: The Visual Inspector must be able to interpret specifications issued by the Quality Control Department in fulfilling manufacturing's inspection operations.

Specific Duties:

  • Perform visual inspection of all castings and determine the acceptability to specifications, re-routing unacceptable parts back to the appropriate finishing operation when needed or classifies and holds rejected parts for review.

  • Meet the specific requirements of the efficiency standard as established by Manufacturing.

  • Record, on a daily basis, all work performed and the correct distribution of the work time by operational code and operating department.

  • Keeps work area clean, following all safety rules.

  • Perform other duties as designated by the supervisor.

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the job demands as listed below.

  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.

  • Pass visual acuity examination
