Job Description

Injection Manufacturing Team Lead

SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Lead is responsible for overseeing daily Wax Injection operations, ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality output, and adherence to safety and compliance standards. This role involves leading a team of injection operators, coordinating production schedules, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet company goals. The Lead should be recognized as a go-to person in the department, a subject matter expert, and a role model for the team in professional conduct.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Capable of running all injection machines and dies in the department and can perform all set-ups.
  • Maintains efficiency of 90%+ with less than 25% indirect time.
  • Manages die and fixture storage.
  • Train and motivate a team of manufacturing associates to achieve production targets, while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Performs set-ups for Level 1 injectors and trainees.
  • Oversees execution of associates' work tasks and behaviors. Bring concerns to Supervisor right away.
  • Monitor and coordinate daily production activities, ensuring adherence to weekly wax schedule, quality standards, and safety protocols, while supporting the achievement of Flex and TOC targets.
  • Communicate with Wax team members on weekly plans provided by the Supervisor. Provide each operator with his daily workload and then monitor completed work vs. expectation. Report to the Supervisor daily on progress and constraints while providing solutions and/or suggestions.
  • Ensure products meet quality specifications through regular inspections, adherence to SOPs, and collaboration with the Quality, Engineering, and Operations Management teams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste and cost, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Enforce safety regulations and rules, and promote a culture of safety, ensuring all team members follow proper procedures and use PPE as required. Actively drive safety improvement and 6S activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and supplies; complete monthly inventory count and order supplies as needed.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of manufacturing equipment. Work closely with other departments, including Engineering and Maintenance, to ensure seamless operations.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must comply with all applicable safety requirements, policies and procedures, while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
  • Must participate in required training, medical monitoring, safety, and health evaluations and programs.
  • Must report any work-related injury or illness immediately to your direct supervisor.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all designated areas of facility.
  • Able to perform all physical functions* of the position, particularly standing, stooping, bending, sitting, walking, twisting, turning, and lifting materials up to 35 lbs.
  • Must meet established attendance standards.
  • Overtime is often needed to meet business goals; this position should expect to work 40-50 hours per week frequently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Thorough understanding of the PCC Structurals - Tilton's Employee Handbook.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety standards. Investment Casting knowledge a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a scheduling role.
  • A full comprehension on the functionality of the Wax Department.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledgeable about the daily Flex report.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, MS Office, or other production management software. Moderate to experienced computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledge a plus.

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, twist, turn, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, stoop, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
