Velosity Brooklyn Park is searching for a Precision Machining Swiss Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing facility in Brooklyn Park, MN. The Precision Machining Swiss Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of Swiss-type CNC machines (such as Citizen, Star). This role combines mechanical, electrical, and CNC systems expertise to maintain tight tolerances and high uptime in high-precision manufacturing environments, such as medical devices, aerospace, or micro-component industries.

This is an on-site position.

The typical pay range for this role: $32.00 - $40.00. This role is also eligible for our 5% quarterly bonus target.

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

Essential Duties:

1. Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly, annual) to reduce machine downtime.
  • Inspect and replace worn or damaged machine components such as bearings, belts, gears, and cutting tools.
  • Lubricate machine components and maintain fluid levels (coolants, hydraulic oil, etc.).

2. Troubleshooting & Repairs

  • Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
  • Interpret error codes and alarms from CNC controls.
  • Use diagnostic tools to test and isolate issues.

3. Machine Calibration & Alignment

  • Check and adjust machine alignment and tool offsets.
  • Ensure tight tolerances and precision settings are maintained.
  • Perform test runs and validate part accuracy after adjustments.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain maintenance logs, service reports, and repair histories.
  • Document parts used, time spent, and nature of service performed.
  • Follow company protocols for work orders and reporting problems.

5. Collaboration & Support

  • Work with machine operators and CNC programmers to identify machine issues.
  • Train operators on proper machine handling and basic troubleshooting.
  • Communicate with manufacturers or vendors for advanced support or warranty issues.

6. Upgrades & Installations

  • Assist with installation of new Swiss-type CNC machines.
  • Perform upgrades to control software or hardware when necessary.
  • Configure machines according to new production requirements.

7. Compliance & Safety

  • Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines.
  • Ensure machines comply with internal and external quality standards.
  • Participate in safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred technical school training or equivalent experience
  • Licensing/Registration/Certification: Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States; must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing swiss machines preferred.
  • The ability to multitask, manage several tasks at the same time without losing the ability to complete them on time; communicate with other departments and team members in a professional and respectful manner; basic computer skills.
  • To be able to perform daily tasks safely and effectively; to work independently with limited supervision; to solve practical problems; to work effectively with other departments and to manage multiple priorities.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Walking is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and move objects in a safe manner using proper equipment. Must have dexterity with hands.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner (results oriented); Ability to make decisions with limited information.

Work Environment:

This is a non-smoking, professional manufacturing shop with normal lighting and climate control. This position may require one to move throughout the shop and office and may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding/ Precision Machining shop.

Protective Clothing Required:

When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
