GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director EHS (Compliance & Programs) is responsible for developing/implementing programs and processes to manage compliance and corporate standards across all lines of business in EssilorLuxottica's North American (NA) region. Collaborates with Global EHS Center of Excellence team, NA EHS Pillar leaders and NA businesses to implement corporate EHS policies & procedures to ensure compliance with applicable local, state/provincial & National regulatory requirements. Demonstrates a broad & comprehensive knowledge to analyze/control conditions contributing to occupational hazards & environmental impact. Promotes world class EHS culture operating within all applicable laws & regulations. Drives continuous improvement & cultural change to achieve business results.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develops and implements EHS Programs and North American EHS standards including but not limited to EHS Training, Machine safety, EHS compliance auditing, ergonomics, general safety, environmental / sustainability programs and digitalization & reporting.
  • Collaborates with Business Leaders, EHS leaders, Risk Management, HR & regional/local personnel ensuring alignment & execution of policies/standards across all lines of business and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and EHS culture change
  • Design programs to maintain compliance, drive culture change & increase accountability for safe work practices & reduction of occupational injuries and environmental issues.
  • Expertise coaching/guiding NA Business Leaders & EHS professionals on EHS matters
  • Experience with Business Continuity Programs, Worker's Compensation, Property loss control and risk engineering processes
  • Expertise with NA regulatory requirements including/not limited to Canada & Mexico EHS laws, OSHA, EPA and other related requirements at Federal/State/Local levels & how to apply to support business objectives
  • Design audit protocols/schedules monitoring EHS compliance
  • Monitor/analyze EHS KPIs across the businesses to drive performance improvement
  • Expertise interfacing with regulatory agencies on compliance matters to minimize impact to the business
  • Partner/Involve legal department on regulatory matters to resolve regulatory issues & minimize cost & liability
  • Communicate EHS results to Leadership apprising of progress & critical issues
  • Partner with other Global/Regional EHS personnel to leverage EHS best practices into NA businesses
  • Other duties as assigned



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • BS/BA safety/environmental, engineering or related technical field
  • 10+ years of increasing EHS responsibilities in a global organization
  • Minimum 5 yrs leading teams or direct people management
  • Knowledge of local/state/provincial & national regulatory requirements related to NA EHS
  • Experience leading culture change in a large multi-site environment
  • Written/Verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Executive Leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and operate in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Analytical/Problem-solving skills
  • Experience in fast-paced, changing/growing organization
  • Handle changing priorities & good judgment in stressful situations
  • Ability to travel 25-50%



PREFERRED QUALIFICATONS:



  • Master's degree in EHS, ergonomics or related field
  • Certified Safety Professional or other EHS certification
