Position Overview

Vantage Data Centers is looking for a Senior Director, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). In this global executive role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the long-term vision of Vantage's EHS strategy across all regions. You will lead the development of a world-class safety culture that is deeply embedded in every aspect of our operations, construction, and corporate functions. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will influence enterprise-wide decision-making, ensure global regulatory compliance, and drive innovation in risk management. You will oversee a global team of EHS leaders and collaborate with executive stakeholders to align safety initiatives with business objectives. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with a proven track record of managing complex, multi-regional EHS programs and delivering measurable results. The role requires autonomy and oversight of processes including, but not limited to:

  • Electrical Safety (Energized Electrical Work, Arc Flash)

  • Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout)

  • Occupational Noise Exposure & Control

  • Heat Stress & Illness Prevention

  • Exposure Assessment (Industrial Hygiene)

  • Emergency Response Planning

  • Working at Heights

  • Confined Space Entry

  • Heavy Material Handling

  • Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklifts)

  • Construction-Related Risks (Cranes/Rigging, Trenching/Shoring, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), etc.)

  • Fire/Life Safety

  • Hazardous Substances Handling

  • Waste Management

  • Ergonomics

  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC)

  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation methodology

  • Incident management and Investigations

Essential Job Functions

  • Define and lead the global EHS strategy, ensuring alignment with Vantage's business goals and operational priorities.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of scalable, harmonized EHS programs across all regions.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team, providing insights on risk trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices.

  • Establish and maintain global EHS governance frameworks, performance metrics, and reporting systems.

  • Drive enterprise-wide initiatives to embed safety into design, construction, and operational processes.

  • Lead global audits, assessments, and benchmarking efforts to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.

  • Represent Vantage in external forums, regulatory engagements, and industry associations.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence in EHS performance.

Duties

  • Report to the VP or C-level executive and serve as the senior-most leader responsible for global EHS performance.

  • Lead and develop a global team of Directors and Managers, ensuring alignment and consistency across all business units.

  • Own the global EHS roadmap and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives across construction and operations.

  • Lead enterprise-level risk assessments and ensure implementation of proactive mitigation strategies.

  • Oversee global incident management processes, ensuring systemic corrective actions and knowledge sharing.

  • Develop and deliver executive-level briefings and board presentations on EHS performance and strategy.

  • Monitor global regulatory landscapes and ensure proactive compliance and advocacy.

  • Drive the adoption of advanced technologies and analytics to enhance EHS performance and visibility.

  • Collaborate with senior leaders across departments to integrate EHS into strategic planning and execution.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

  • A Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a related science/engineering discipline with coursework in risk management or safety is preferred, but not required, depending on experience.

  • A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in EHS is required, including senior leadership roles with demonstrated success managing global programs and leading large, distributed teams.

  • Proven ability to influence at the executive level, drive cultural transformation, and implement innovative, scalable risk management strategies.

  • Extensive experience with international EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.

  • Travel required is expected to be up to 10% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
