Position Summary |
The Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs is seeking a dynamic and proactive Student Outreach Coordinator to join our team and lead key initiatives in student communications, event coordination, and various strategic responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering effective communication with students through the management of a weekly newsletter, social media channels, website updates, and job board activities. Additionally, they will play a pivotal role in coordinating a range of outreach events, including but not limited to orientation programs, recognition luncheons, and symposiums.
The Student Outreach Coordinator will be empowered to make critical decisions in content curation, event planning, and overall strategy to enhance student engagement and support the organization's mission. The role involves a versatile professional who can manage diverse responsibilities, contribute to strategic decision-making processes, and collaborate seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders, and demonstrates a working knowledge of the college's overall mission and objectives related to student programming. Reporting will be through the Office of Student Success. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Thorough knowledge of media production, including social media strategy.
- Ability to interact effectively with the public.
- Skills in the coordination of special outreach and events.
- Ability to work under limited supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with basic web development.
- Working knowledge of office practices and procedures, word processing, and Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Working knowledge of CAES' mission and objectives in relations to student programming.

Event Coordination:
- Strategic decision making regarding the planning and execution of 6+ key outreach events for the Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs.
- Coordinates logistics, including venue selection, scheduling, and communication strategies.
- Manage on-site execution and ensure a positive experience for student participation.
- Coordinate invitations and RSVPs, ensuring a seamless event.
- Coordinate travel arrangements, accommodations, and itineraries as needed.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and engaging experience.
- Make strategic decisions to showcase CAES and programs values and opportunities.
- Evaluate the success of outreach events through feedback and metrics, implementing improvements for future initiatives.
- Assist the Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs as a team member with outreach events such as CAES Convocation ceremonies and CAES Undergraduate Student Leadership Award and Recognition Banquet.

Student Communications:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive student communication strategy.
- Develop and curate content for a weekly newsletter and social media platforms aimed at keeping students informed about relevant events, opportunities, and updates.
- Strategic decision making regarding content selection and presentation to engage and inform the student community.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all student communication.
- Monitor social media trends and make informed decision to optimize outreach efforts.
- Oversee regular updates to the organization's website to reflect current events, news, and initiatives.
- Collaborate with CAES Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) and IT to ensure the website remains user friendly and visually appealing.
- Act as a liaison with OMC to align messaging and branding.
- Manage the organization's job board, facilitating the posting of relevant opportunities for students.
- Collaborate with employers to post job and internship opportunities.
- Make decisions on the categorization and prioritization of job listings.
