Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Collections Specialist to work alongside the Collections Team and with Operations to ensure timely collections and monitoring of Accounts Receivable. Please note that this role is preferred to have an on-site presence at one of our U.S. based offices, with the opportunity for a flexible hybrid work arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Participate in Collections meetings.
- Provide guidance and make recommendations to Operations on managing their collections.
- Provide customer service regarding collection issues, help resolve client discrepancies and short payments.
- Support the collections process, working to resolve client payment issues and protect the financial assets of the organization.
- Review contracts, assess credit histories and reports, and recommend approach for existing and prospective customers.
- Make collection calls and/or generate correspondence to collect outstanding invoices from clients.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts - Customer calls, recommend account adjustments and small balance write offs, customer statements or reconciliations and submitting credit memos for processing.
- Provide collections reports as needed and action items to Operations to facilitate the collections process.
- Assist Operations in reducing delinquency for assigned accounts.
- Enlist the efforts of sales Operations and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
- Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounts Receivable Department.
- Follow all applicable organization and compliance rules regarding credit and collection processes.
- Performs general tasks and completes routine assignments.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years in related field.
- Prior collections experience required.
- Willingness to work in a supportive and Team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of Accounts Receivable, Billing and Collections processes.
- Strong attention to detail and goal oriented.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including knowledge in Excel.
- Ability to work at a desk and on a computer for 8+ hours per day.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and clients via telephone, e-mail, in person and on paper.
