Job Details

Under general direction of the Director - Financial Systems, responsible for designing, analyzing and developing financial systems to support the Company's business objectives. The Financial Systems Specialist provides technical direction and training to users and provides operational and system improvements to existing financial systems to correct or enhance the reliability and effectiveness of the system.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing, developing and supporting financial systems used throughout Cencora Corporation.

  • Codes, writes, develops and modifies complex functions within financial programs using the appropriate applications and languages based upon business requirements.

  • Responsible for developing test plans and running tests on newly-developed and/or modified programs to ensure a quality product; independently sets up test procedures for large system changes.

  • Prepares program and system documentation that meets company standards for implementation.

  • Maintains an in depth knowledge of the finance functional area, as it relates to the specific area supported; uses this knowledge along with technical expertise to recommend optimal solutions to user group needs.

  • Performs preliminary project evaluations, analysis and design for complex financial program and/or system changes and additions.

  • Prepares project estimates for own projects and other projects as needed; keeps management informed of progress on current projects and assignments.

  • Provides expertise and technical training; develops problem resolutions and recommendations for improvements to other systems development staff members.

  • Generates ad hoc accounting reports, templates and analysis as needed.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

Requires some training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year Bachelor's Degree program. Normally requires a minimum of four (4) to six (6) years progressively responsible experience.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of financial systems development lifecycle including strong background in analysis and design of business application systems

  • Knowledge of accounting practices and principles

  • Working knowledge of accounting and reporting software packages.

  • Oracle Hyperion EPM experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex programs in business application software; interface and work with appropriate personnel to develop solutions

  • Ability to install and support business oriented software

  • Ability to write functional and technical specifications

  • Strong decision making skills

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to prioritize work load and consistently meet deadlines

  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
