Job Title: Manager-Training Development

Department: 988 Lifeline, Standards, Training and Practices Division

Reports to: Senior Director, Training Development and Instructional Design

Location: Remote

Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET

Salary Range: $82,400k - 105,000K

*New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

Position Overview:

The Manager-Training Development is responsible for executing multiple facets of training development at a time. This includes managing the design and programming self-paced online courses and multimedia; Learning Management System (LMS) administration support; and LMS and training development in other languages or for various disabilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage different facets of online training development from initiation to launch, including but not limited to the following:


  • Timelines - Develop and track the development of trainings the start to release; identifying areas for process improvements
  • Needs assessment - clarify purpose, goals and audience needs
  • Graphic design - manage the creation of the color scheme and other course assets (images, banners, etc) with internal staff and vendors
  • Videos - manage the development of videos
  • Outreach - organize and facilitate all internal outreach efforts to publicize the launch of new training and educational resources
  • Course repository - ensure multimedia, images, scormed files are maintained and tracked for future updates/revisions
  • Collaboration - Collaborate with key staff and vendors
  • Lead the design development of online interactive, user-friendly trainings and educational resources for crisis counselors and/or clinical staff in the Lifeline network
  • Design and program online courses that engage learners and build skills
  • Create and edit educational videos
  • Work closely with subject matter experts and content writers on the clinical team to translate best practices in suicide prevention into dynamic instructional design based on adult learning theory
  • Coordinate multimedia development needs for trainings
  • Work closely with vendors
  • Manage training development, educational resources, and LMS in Spanish and for various disabilities, as needed, including but not limited to:
  • Spanish versions of LMS, courses and other training materials
  • Accessibility of trainings to support those with visual and hearing limitations.
  • Other languages or disabilities as necessary
  • Support LMS Administration, including but not limited to user management, content uploading, generating reports, troubleshooting, documentation, and enhancing user experience.


Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Experience designing and developing self-paced online trainings
  • Experience with multimedia, specifically video production
  • Experience with video editing (preferably Vyond, Premier Pro, Camtasia)
  • Experience developing trainings and educational resources in different languages and for different abilities
  • Experience managing the development of complex online trainings
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (preferably Moodle)
  • Fluency in written Spanish language
  • Supervisory experience (preferred)


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in the field of education or 5 years of equivalent work experience
  • 3 years of experience in online training design and development (preferably articulate)
  • 2 years working in mental health training, ideally crisis counseling


Physical Requirements:


  • Mostly sedentary work, using standard office equipment including a computer, keyboard, and telephone
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under stress
  • Ability to communicate through various mediums, including video conferencing platforms, phones, etc.
  • Maintain a dedicated workspace, free of distractions and other obligations
