About the Role The Director of Community & Economic Development (CED) leads GRADD’s efforts in supporting the seven-county region by addressing current needs while planning strategically for future growth. This position is responsible for developing and managing projects that strengthen community development, economic development, rural development, environmental protection, hazard mitigation, infrastructure resiliency, housing, and planning/zoning services across the region.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of the Community & Economic Development department.
- Develop, administer, and monitor projects that improve the economic and social wellbeing of the GRADD region.
- Coordinate with local governments, agencies, and stakeholders to address planning, zoning, housing, and infrastructure needs.
- Guide hazard mitigation and resiliency initiatives to strengthen regional preparedness.
- Supervise departmental staff and manage budgets, grants, and reporting requirements.
- Represent GRADD at community, regional, and state-level meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, political science, regional & urban planning, or a closely related field.
- 5–7 years of progressive administrative and management experience.
- Strong knowledge of community planning, economic development, and project administration.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
