Responsibilities & Expectations:

IPS is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician specializing in medium voltage cable termination to join our growing team. This role is responsible for terminating, splicing, and testing medium voltage cables, as well as performing related field service work for our customers.

  • Terminate and splice medium voltage cables ranging from 5kV to 35kV, including Jacketed Concentric Neutral (JCN) and Tapeshield types.
  • Perform testing on medium voltage cables using equipment such as Fluke multimeters, Megohm meters, and VLF high potential test sets.
  • (Preferred) Locate cable faults using industry-standard methods and equipment.
  • (Preferred) Test utility transformers and switchgear.
  • Travel to job sites as required, sometimes on short notice.
  • Provide own basic hand tools; IPS will supply all specialty tools needed for the job.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with company and customer requirements.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years of electrical construction and/or service work experience preferred.
  • Experience with cable fault locating and transformer/switchgear testing a plus, but not required to start.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety practices.
