The UNC Department of Neurology is seeking a Pediatric Epileptologist to join its growing and collaborative team.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive clinical care in pediatric neurology and epilepsy
  • Participate in inpatient general child neurology and epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) services
  • Interpret routine EEGs, stereoEEGs, evoked potentials, and longterm video EEGs
  • Participate in presurgical diagnostic evaluations for pediatric epilepsy
  • Conduct pediatric neurology and epilepsy subspecialty outpatient clinics
  • Teach and supervise residents and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations

Clinical Expertise

  • Experience with multimodal epilepsy surgery diagnostic evaluations
  • Planning and interpretation of stereoEEG for seizure localization
  • Collaborative surgical planning with pediatric neurosurgery
  • Familiarity with advanced surgical and neuromodulation approaches, including Laser interstitial thermal ablation (LITT) and Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for pediatric patients
  • Working knowledge of highdensity scalp EEG recordings
  • Experience with subdural grid and depth electrode stereotactic techniques for presurgical epilepsy evaluation

Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree
  • Completion of an ACGMEaccredited Child Neurology residency
  • Completion of an accredited Epilepsy fellowship
  • Eligible for or licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina
  • ABPN Board Certified in Child Neurology
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Epilepsy
