What work will you perform?


The Mexico Cross Border Facility Operations Manager is responsible for the daily management of terminal facilities, including both internal and outsourced operations. You will have oversight of all security, yard, cross dock, and crane operations and all facility infrastructure including owned, leased, and 3rd party equipment on property. The person in this position is responsible for staffing and leading guards, inspectors, heavy equipment operators, and some office staff. The manager has ownership of the facility policies, including CTPAT and OSHA safety compliance. Creating an environment conducive for BCO retention and playing a supporting role in agency sales and customer service is necessary to be successful.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Supervise all security, dock, yard, crane, trailer maintenance, and facilities (janitorial) staff members.
  • Establish & monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for respective departments.
  • Use accountabilities, policies, training, culture, and other management tools to ensure compliance with internal safety, security, and CTPAT programs, as well as local laws and regulations.
  • Work with the Director of Building Operations as needed to ensure facilities are maintained and security issues are addressed timely.
  • Act as subject matter expert on cross dock and crane operations, and facility security in customer, agent, employee, and government interactions.
  • Address and resolve disputes involving external parties while on Landstar or outsourced terminals.
  • Manage the selection, work instructions, reporting and performance of third-party terminal service providers along the U.S.-Mexico border.
  • Collaborate with Trailer Maintenance leadership to maintain high availability of company owned trailing assets, overseeing timely and costly prudent trailer maintenance repairs.



Required Minimum Experience and Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Two years of supervision experience in a facility, warehouse, cross dock or yard operation
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish



Preferred Experience and Education:



  • One year of transportation operations experience



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of Mexico cross border Operations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
