Assigns and supervises the work of custodians and performs custodial duties involving the cleaning and care of buildings. Supervises a small group of custodians.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Cleaning is done according to the standards set by the department. Proper methods and procedures should be always followed in all areas with consistent accuracy.
  • Promotes and practices safety in the workplace. Maintains an accident-free operation. Uses and cares for equipment in a safe and proper manner. Chemicals are used in a safe and proper manner to avoid waste or accidents.
  • Performs work including emergency cleanup of rooms, summer conferences and cleanup, specialty floor or carpet cleaning, winter break cleaning, weekend work schedule and all related work as required. Paying attention to detail in all areas.
  • Reports needed repairs and property damage. Leaves work areas clean and orderly, including all work-related equipment, custodial closets, and break room areas.
  • Assist with restroom and lead teams for special projects. Trains staff on new and old equipment. Be ready to assist with Ready 2 Respond water issues and do inspections when needed.

Required Qualifications

Requires three years experience in building custodial and maintenance work.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Working knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in assigned work.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge and ability to instruct and lead a group of custodians in the cleaning and care of buildings.
  • Ability to assign and check the work of subordinates.

Pay Statement
