National Grid is hiring a Principal Process Manager, Process and Performance Improvement for Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations

Job Purpose

The Principal Process Manager is a strategic leader responsible for driving enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, and business performance. This role ensures workflows are efficient, scalable, and aligned with strategic goals, leveraging methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Agile. This role is a key leadership role within the Process and Performance Management team, and partners with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable improvements. Success in this role requires a strategic mindset, strong facilitation skills, and the ability to influence change across diverse stakeholder groups. Occasional travel may be required for training and inter-site collaboration.

Key Accountabilities
  • Strategic Process Leadership: Lead high-impact process improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals, ensuring measurable outcomes and sustainable change. Directly responsible for delivering significant operational improvements and financial benefits to meet annual targets.
  • Process Design & Optimization: Directly responsible for delivering Performance, Transformational and /or E2E Projects by analyzing current-state processes, identifying inefficiencies, and designing future-state workflows using data-driven insights and industry-best practices.
  • Change Management: Champion a culture of continuous improvement by engaging stakeholders, facilitating workshops, and managing change across departments.
  • Performance Measurement: Define KPIs and develop dashboards to monitor process performance, identify trends, and drive accountability.
  • Coaching & Mentorship: Mentor junior process managers and business partners in process improvement, Lean Six Sigma tools, project management, and facilitation techniques.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Partner with all stakeholders (senior leaders, operational, business teams) to align process improvements with strategic priorities and technology roadmaps while building relationships at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Process Management, or related field.
  • 8-12+ years of experience in process improvement, operations, or business transformation
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification strongly preferred
  • PMP Certification preferred, not required
  • Proven track record of leading enterprise-level process initiatives
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Experience with process modeling tools (e.g., Visio, IBM Blueworks) and data analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Strong analytical with the ability to interpret data to make data-driven decisions and problem-solving abilities.
  • Practical experience applying the DMAIC framework to identify root causes, implement improvements, and sustain results in operational processes
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, workflow optimization, change management, and continuous improvement methodologies and workshop management.
  • Effective time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Visio, Excel, and other process mapping and analysis tools.

Salary - $139,000 - $163,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
