Job Purpose

Reporting to the Global Head of External Reporting and Technical Accounting, the Manager of Technical Accounting will serve as a key U.S. GAAP subject matter expert working cross-functionally to internal stakeholder leadership.


This position is eligible for our hybrid work model working three (3) days on-site in our offices in Oak Brook,IL and two (2) days remote/home office.

Key Responsibilities

* Research and provide guidance on technical accounting issues, preparing whitepapers for internal use and external auditors.
* Monitors U.S. GAAP and SEC developments and leads the adoption of new accounting and disclosure requirements.
* Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives related to technical accounting processes and controls, contributing to a strong control environment.
* Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g. FP&A, Legal, Tax, Treasury, M&A) on transactions such as acquisitions, equity arrangements, and new business initiatives to assess accounting implications.
* Ensures company compliance with financial accounting and reporting standards.
* Maintains SOX compliance over the financial reporting function.
* Works closely with the Finance Policy group to develop and maintain company wide accounting policies in accordance with IFRS and U.S. GAAP requirements.
* Works with the external auditors to address accounting and reporting issues, review of financial statements and footnotes and other matters as needed.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA license
  • 8+ years professional work experience in a technical accounting/audit role in a Big 4 accounting firm servicing large, public or private international manufacturing companies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the financial reporting requirements, SOX compliance, and US GAAP technical accounting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience drafting technical memos, accounting policies, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex transactions and clearly communicate technical conclusions to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience and success working in a team environment, initiative to organize workload, set priorities and ability to adapt to changing situations.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is USD$119,250.00 - $174,900.00 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
