Summary

Spire is seeking a Trading Analyst to work in the Houston office. This position will be responsible for providing trade support for SMI trading group, but also assist other functional groups, including but not limited, Gas Marketing and Origination, and Gas Scheduling.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Assist trading personnel with a detailed level of support and focus on assigned tasks that will help increase their productivity and profitability.
* Support with position management, deal check-out, as well as specific analysis on physical and financial fundamentals within the North American Natural Gas Market.
* Develop and maintain market data in order to help forecast conditions effecting supply and demand.
* Maintain and generate daily position reports for the trading function.
* Monitor and report on market pricing to traders and marketers.
* Analyze a wide range of fundamental and technical data as required from trading manager or traders.
* Attend client/customer meetings or calls with traders, marketers, or other SMI personnel as necessary.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

* A bachelor's degree in business or a related field required

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

* Previous experience as a full time employee or as an Intern within the energy business strongly preferred
* Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
* Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience


* Ability to demonstrate and master the core and job category competencies applicable for this role within the organization.
* Detailed and focused, with an ability to handle the stress of working on a trading floor.

Physical demands, environment and schedule

* Normal Work Environment - Work is normally performed in a shared office environment
* Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday
* Travel is required on a limited basis, principally for day trips, as well as some amount of overtime
* During peak periods, especially during legislative session, additional overtime and travel may be required to meet externally set deadlines
