Job Description
ECU's Department of Family Medicine is currently seeking 2 Self-Help students to assist with Family Medicine's Free Weight Management Program. Ideal candidates are nutrition students interested in a career in dietetics. This job will involve working effectively with dietitians, interns, students, and other members of the healthcare team to prepare and deliver weekly nutrition lessons to class participants.
Responsibilities will include helping to send out weekly reminders to class participants, setting up Webex, getting participants signed into class, collecting weekly weights, and documenting each meeting in the electronic health record. As needed, the student assistants will help deliver and/or coordinate the delivery of nutrition lessons and cooking demonstrations. They will help budget and shop for food materials, prepare food bags, set up the meeting room, and clean up after classes involving a cooking demonstration. They will assist in administering surveys to class participants, and synthesizing class data to develop the interim and end-of-year grant report, and calling new referrals.
